Helen Dunmore was the first winner of the Orange Prize and is also an acclaimed children's author and poet. She has published ten adult novels with Viking and Penguin: ZENNOR IN DARKNESS, winner of the McKitterick prize; BURNING BRIGHT; A SPELL OF WINTER, winner of the first Orange Prize; TALKING TO THE DEAD; YOUR BLUE EYED BOY; WITH YOUR CROOKED HEART; THE SIEGE; MOURNING RUBY; HOUSE OF ORPHANS; and COUNTING THE STARS. A sequel to THE SIEGE, entitled THE BETRAYAL, was published in the spring of 2010. Helen has also published two collections of stories, LOVE OF FAT MEN and ICE CREAM. Her children's novels, published by Scholastic, include BROTHER, BROTHER, SISTER, SISTER and ZILLAH & ME. The second book in the Zillah series, THE ZILLAH REBELLION, was published in October 2001, and the third, ZILLAH LEAVING, in autumn 2002. Helen has also written four books of poetry: THE APPLE FALL; THE SEA SKATER, which was the winner of the Alice Hunt Bartlett Award; THE RAW GARDEN; and SHORT DAYS, LONG NIGHTS: NEW & SELECTED POEMS (1991), all published by Bloodaxe Books. Her collections of poems for children are SECRETS, winner of the Signal Award, and SNOLLYGOSTER. Helen Dunmore's poetry and fiction is translated into more than twenty languages.
