Portia Rosenberg is an illustrator who also writes for children. She has illustrated two books; JONATHAN STRANGE AND MR NORRELL by Susanna Clarke, and THE BLACK TULIP by Alexandre Dumas which will be published in 2011. She has degrees in English Literature and Illustration, and before becoming a full time illustrator had many jobs, including childcare, post delivery and bookselling.

Born in Manchester, Portia now lives in Cambridge, where her Jewish faith remains an important part of her life. She has exhibited her work as part of Cambridge Open Studios and spent a year as the Artist in Residence at Cambridge Arts Theatre. She has concentrated on pencil drawings and working in monotone but is now developing her work in colour. She loves drawing characters and trying to capture light and atmosphere, and is particularly inspired by Honore Daumier and also Rembrandt and Goya.

Portia loves comedy, having a laugh with people, being outside on windy days, swimming in the sea and cooking and eating ridiculously large pots of soup.
